My
late great teacher Acharya Upendra Roy who with great sadness
passed away in 2007 would always say yoga is a way of life.
It is life.
If
you do not practice yoga or have not experienced a yoga class
you can be slightly cynical, How can yoga be a way of life?
Breath,
first and foremost is the most essential tool in yoga. Observing
the breath, ensuring that it is deep, the ability to retain,
increasing the power of the lungs, the diaphragm to exhale
with control. |
Breath
moves oxygen into your body and removes carbon dioxide. Movement
of the Breath and bringing time to sit and observe, makes the individual
feel calmer and more centred, relaxed. How can you not want that
to be part of your life? When you move the body through the posture/asanas
you are transforming and energising muscles, tendons, ligaments,
blood flow. Realigning, moving, stabilising with control and passion.
Postures/Asanas emulate various animals and elements of nature such
as:
The Cobra – Bujangasana
The Eagle – Garurasana
Fish Pose – Matsyasana
Camel Pose – Ustrasana
Tree – Vakrasana
There
are hundreds of more Asanas with variations and interpretations.
Bringing elements of nature such as the adrenaline, power, control,
confidence, suppleness, beauty, focus, centredness.
Do
you need this in you life? At home? Work?
Body and spirit.
Harmony within.
It
takes awareness, honesty, discipline to question yourself and make
changes and establish your life course for Today!
